okay enough sensationalizing.
“anthony weiner blows up”
“anthony weiner loses it”
“anthony weiner rants”
all these tag lines have an inherent tone to it that implies that it was anthony weiner who lost his sensibility and blew things out of proportion. it reminds us of our parents who get angry at us for coming home 10 minutes late - when in reality that’s not that big of a deal.
it is a big deal when one party decides to “amend” a bill so that they can frame the other party for voting for a bill that is in “favor” of illegal immigrants.
the story behind this is that the republicans just couldn’t give the democrats a “win” this year and give them a good bill so they decided to put this amendment that said that the 9/11 healthcare bill would not be able to be claimed by any illegal immigrants. and so any democrat who voted for this bill would look like they were in favor of illegal immigrants.
sigh. i wish that the gallup poll would call me so i can tell them definitively that i DON’T trust congress to run the country i live in.
let’s all write letters to our congressmen to gird their loins and make decisions based on what their constituents want rather than what they think is good for their political careers.
what’s interesting about the phrase political career is that - really when you think about it politicians shouldn’t think that their time in service is a career. it’s not like your average job, it’s a servitude really. the point of it isn’t so that you can “advance” your career it should more be like - well i have a job to get done to serve the people who voted me in the best i can. really the job has an expiration date because if you did your job really well then the world wouldn’t need you - right?
and going back to this thing people have about anthony weiner ranting? i think he said what needed to be heard. more congressmen and women need to know that america doesn’t approve of all this fighting. all this fighting and bantering and politiking - bad bad bad.
they need a time out.
also doesn’t this remind you of mr. smith goes to washington?
YES YES YES - more passionate people who want results!!
